Search for a Busan Korean beef restaurant and dozens of places come up, from Haeundae to Seomyeon. In photos they all look much the same, but once you go, the grade and the way prices are set vary from place to place.
Here are four things worth checking before you choose a Hanwoo restaurant in Busan, followed by an introduction to HANWOO GOJIP in Gaya-dong, Busanjin-gu.
Choosing a Busan Korean beef restaurant, 1. Is the grade shown?
The taste and price of Hanwoo vary a lot by grade. The highest grade is 1++. Check whether the grade is shown on the menu or in the showcase, and whether every cut is the same grade.
2. How many grams is the price for?
Where prices are only listed "per serving", it's hard to know how much meat you'll actually get. You need a price per 100g to compare with other beef restaurants in Busan.
3. Is there anything charged on top of the meat?
- Table charge: some places charge it separately per person
- Side dish and soup refills: some places charge for them
- Bringing your own drinks (corkage): some places charge per bottle you bring
Even at the same price per 100g, charges like these can change the total quite a bit.
4. Is there seating to match your group?
A light meal for two and a gathering of ten need different spaces. Check whether there's a private room and how many people the group seating holds.

| Menu | Price |
|---|---|
| Hanwoo chadolbagi (100g) | ₩18,000 |

Rice and noodle dishes include doenjang-jjigae (medium ₩5,000 / large ₩7,000), mul- or bibim-makguksu (₩7,000), Hanwoo beef gukbap (₩7,000) and a bowl of rice (₩1,000).
Seating. The first floor is an open hall divided by partition walls, and the second floor has private rooms (8–18 guests) and an open area. Group seating goes up to 50 people, and you can book the entire second floor.
20 years in one place. This Hanwoo restaurant in Busan has been open in the same spot on Eomgwang-ro, Gaya-dong, Busanjin-gu for 20 years.
